Preparing Slides
Slides are what you put on the stage of a microscope to examine. A slide can be either a dry mount or a wet mount.
A dry mount is used to look at non-living things.
A wet mount is used to look at living or moving things.

- Place your object on the middle of the slide.
- Hold the cover slip carefully by the edges, and carefully place it on the object.
How to Prepare a Wet Mount
- Using a medicine dropper, place 1 or 2 drops of water on the center of the slide.
- Using tweezers, place your object on the drops of water.
- Hold the cover slip carefully by its edges, at an angle of 45 degrees to the surface of the slide, and place it. (look at picture below).
- Wrap a paper towel over the slide and free any excess water.
- Carefully poke your finger at the cover slip to free any air bubbles.
